Bring at least $6000A which includes your return airfares,,if jobs & plans dont work out.Then regard your stay as an experience or a holiday.Dont come if you are just out of your parents house where mother cooks/cleans for you,Dont come if you are still into Manga & Disney.Dont come if just out of school& have no skills or trade.There are so many international students seeking jobs, many working in restaurants of their own nationality, so if you cant make sushi quickly you cant work in a Jp venue.Accommodation has never been so scarce in Aust,many Aussies have no permanent room.If you cant find private rooms ($200-350/wk)he hostels are $400-$600/wk(4-6people/room) & many are full.Dont count on FIFO jobs,everyone wants one,you must be big strong energetic, work very long days.
But if coming with plenty money on a Holiday Visa..no problem. Have a good time.
